Here’s where it all started in 1954. The ultra modern and iconic Stratocaster® was introduced and helped shape the course of modern music.
Our Origin 54 Strat® pickups are built to replicate those early sounds as closely as possible. Using ‘Heavy Formvar’ wire, the classic early low 5.7k hand wind and alnico V magnets, these produce all the chime and attack of the originals. The bridge pickup is slightly over-wound for balance.
 
Masterwound single coil Strat pickups are sold as complete sets of three. 
 
A note on covers: the earliest Strat® pickups were fitted with a sort of styrene plastic cover that wore rapidly to very rounded edges … these were fairly quickly swapped for the sort harder wearing plastic used today. The early covers never fade to cream and always stay chalky white. We can supply custom light to heavy relic white covers to replicate this. Please see the custom shop for further information on special orders.
